The place to be

The Rotterdam city centre is where it’s all happening. With its trendy shops and fashionable bars at the Meent, traditional pubs at the Binnenweg and pleasant terraces at the Oude Haven, you will never be bored. Soak up some culture and go out at the Witte de Withstraat.  If you want to see all continents in one place, you visit the West Kruiskade. Or unwind in one of the many parks in the city or in the concealed inner gardens. If you live here, the city is at your feet and the rest of the world in your ‘backyard’, for such a vast mix of people, ages and cultures is nowhere to be found. And that is quite charming. 

Our favourites

Actually, we have more favourite spots than we can list here. At Brasserie Pierre both the food and the vibe are très magnifique. Even so at city bar and alehouse Bokaal Rotterdam by the way, though they just use the word ‘gezellig’ (=cosy) there. Walk in at De Gele Kanarie for no-nonsense food and homebrewn beer. Or at vegetarian restaurant Spirit, at the city’s living room De Huismeester or at star-awarded restaurant Amarone aan de Meent.

In terms of shopping, we recommend the fashion shops Vintage and Labels by Hendrikus and Objet Trouve. And you can indulge yourself at flower shop ‘s Zomers and the sophisticated clothing store Filippa K, for example.
