Delfshaven

Rich history, creative dynamics

The rich history of Historical Delfshaven and the creative dynamics of Coolhaveneiland come together in the Delfshaven district. Numerous historical buildings and elements, dating back hundreds of years, have been saved and renovated in Historical Delfshaven.  And the list of sights is endless. Moreover, you will find lots of galleries and restaurants, and wandering along the water of the picturesque outer harbour is a great pastime.

On the other hand, Coolhaveneiland has emerged as a creative hotspot. Its flagship is De Machinist, a former nautical college that has been turned into a meeting place whilst maintaining its authentic atmosphere. A restaurant and bar, a film theatre and a bookshop are situated here. Live music is often played, and stand-up comedy is performed every month. Finally, the place offers plenty of room to entrepreneurial and creative Rotterdam.

Are you looking for green, peace and quiet among the city’s hustle and bustle? Walk in – or rather out – at De Schat van Schoonderloo. A unique city park and one of Rotterdam’s hidden gems. Also the annual Ketels aan de Kade is worth a visit. At this food festival, urban history comes to life and the history of Delfshaven can be tasted on the streets.

For a good talk, a Friday afternoon drink, a friendly atmosphere, delicious food and real Rotterdam beer, you go to Stadsbrouwerij De Pelgrim. It is worth going the extra mile by bike.
