Kleiwegkwartier/Hillegersberg
We secretly think Hilligersberg-Zuid, also known as Kleiwegkwartier, is one of the nicest districts of the city. And although there are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants, life is lived quietly here. The district has no lack of sports clubs or primary and secondary schools. There is even an international school. Besides, there is lots to see and do within walking distance. What about sailing on the Bergsche Plassen, jogging along the Rotte, having a picknick in the Melanchtonpark or hitting a ball at the golf course? And all this with the city centre only fifteen minutes away (by bike)!
Our favourites
Breakfast and lunch are great at Ver van Hier. And for a delicious dinner, you go to Eetcafé De Gouden Snor, restaurant Rijntje or Zotte, Thai restaurant Yam Thai or Rebelz aan de Rotte, Rotte being the river to which the city owes its name. For wine lovers, a visit to one of the three great wine bars the district is rich in is indispensable: De Avonden, Abrazo or Mendoza. The latter, by the way, has a wonderful terrace adjacent to the lake (Bergsche Voorplas).
